Folk Villages in South KoreaCountry forums / North-East Asia / South Korea
Anyone been to most of the Folk Villages ? I have a 3 weeks trip. I have shortlisted Hahoe & Jeonju to visit. Can anyone tell me how is Korean Folk Village(this is the only one I have visited), Andong(since I will pass by going to Hahoe) Yangdong, Nagan & Jeju ones compared to the two I have selected ? What are their differences ?
I have been to the hanok area of Jeonju and Nagan. Not the others. The hanok area of Jeonju is not really a village and is not nearly as spectacular as Nagan, a place where you could really spend a lot of time. Depending on how much time you have, I believe there are activities at Nagan if you are interested. There is no question in my mind I would choose Nagan over Jeonju. Of course, it is more difficult to access. There is no such thing as 'too many.' If that's what interests you, go for it. I would try to choose villages that are as dramatically different as possible. Nagan Stone Village was high on my list, so that's where I went. The added advantage of Nagan is that it is not far from the Daehan Dawon green tea plantation, though I'm not sure how to get from one to the other without a car. It's a fantastic site. | 1
#1, Thank you for your opinion. Jeonju seems to get more mention anywhere. Lucky to get your reply. | 2
Can't tell my opinion about the ones you ask for, I went to Yangdong Folk Village and Jeju's one. | 3
Thank you #3, I wiull try to go Yangdong too. How much time is needed to see the place ? | 4
I've only been to one Hanok and it was fun but nothing extraordinary. Its located in central Seoul near Namsan and not too far from Namdaemun market or the palace Changdeokgung. I wrote about it and have a bunch of pictures from the Hanok on my blog. | 5
Thanks #5, I wonder how is the one near Namsan and the one near Everland(which is better known) compared to those at Hahoe, Yangdong and Nagan. Hope someone can compare. | 6
I spent in Yangdong half day: walking around, having lunch... | 7
