flying visit to SeoulCountry forums / North-East Asia / South Korea
I have a few hours of layover in Seoul. I'm flying Asiana so arrive around 19.00 one evening and have to be back at the airport for 12.00noon the following day. I'm not sure which hotel I will be staying but my first thoughts are: to see the lights of Seoul by going up the Namsan Tower the first night - it seems to be open until around 23.30. The next morning I thought I would head out early for the Insadong area - any idea when that starts to open up for shopping and sightseeeing. Or would it be better to visit Insadong the evening before - does it stay open late? Any advice gratefully received.
You may want to consider staying at Myeongdong, shop at night and visit Namsan Park the next morning. Myeongdong shopping district and Namsan Park are near each other. You can do the climb up Namsan Park but I wouldn't recommend going up the tower. I don't know how's the view during day time but it was disappointing at night. http://pejoy.blogspot.com/2010/11/palace-park-tower-in-central-seoul.html | 1
Insadong doesn't really start to open up until about 9.30-10ish, so that might be cutting it fine. Personally I think the few from Namsan is great day or night. | 2
