EZ Nis

Country forums / North-East Asia / Mongolia

Hey,

short question. I heard that EZ Nis went out of business in May. But there are conflicting reports about whether they restarted their operations. I want to go to Ulgii in October for the weekend. So are they flying or is it only Aeromongolia?

Also, aeromongolia's website doesnt seem to be accessible at the moment? I would prefer Hunnu but they only go to Khovd and I'm a bit pressed on time since I cant take too much vacation.

Hi,

Definitely out of business. They'd been in financial trouble for several years till they eventually folded. Part of the reason they survived so long is that they were the preferred airline for many embassies - most EU embassies, as an example, would only allow their staff and visitors to use EZ-nis due to all other domestic's fairly frequent groundings, emergency landings and almost non-existent safety checks. Being that EZ-nis was the safest airline in Mongolia there was initially no shortage of prop-capital but it eventually ran out. Unfortunately there was comparatively little domestic market for high priced but safe air travel.

Aero's website is a bit skittish so it might be worth going straight into their offices in town or just using an agent like Opodo or Expedia.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the info Chris. I might look for Hunnu to Khovd on the way to Ulgii and then AeroMongolia back. Hunnu seems like the more reliable one of those two. But Ill visit the AeroMongolia office like you suggested

I'm not sure if you've been able to buy a ticket yet from UB to Oglii, but I'm just curious how much you ended up paying? I'm also considering going out to Oglii for the Golden Eagle Festival Oct 5-6.

No sorry, I went to the AeelroMongolia office. The flights that were interesting for me were already sold out. It's pretty expensive, too. >300k for one way. I can't really take that many days off so I have to pass on that one
