driver in Mongolia

Hi,
Just starting to plan a trip to Mongolia for summer 2013.

I see that member lunasiatica111 recommends a driver named Mejet alot on the forum. Has anyone else traveled with him?

Also, I've seen some horror stories about Ger to Ger. Anyone had a really good experience with them?

Ger to Ger are a bit more expensive than similar tours offered by guesthouses in UB.

Most of the time one hires a guide and a driver. It is unusual for the guide to also drive or for the driver to also speak English.

A guide who is often recommended here in the past is Gans - I think his email address is kbgans@yahoo.com or maybe it's hotmail.com

Have you contacted any guesthouses? Often they can recommend a guide and driver.

I've had a bad experience with Gans. He's first of all a good business man, maybe he's a good guide too if he's not too busy. When we hired him for a tour he lead two other tours at the same time bringing us together some times or giving us another guide who however couldn't take over the required responsibility because Gans still directed the tour... a mess!
