I think they have the question "Have you ever been refused entry to Japan?". I don't recall seeing the deported question.

Are you scared to answer?

It is a touchy subject.

Yes. On the back of the immigration disembarkation/embarkation form are 4 questions:

1) Have you ever been deported from or denied entry to Japan?
2) Have you ever been found guilty in a criminal case (Japan or elsewhere)?
3) Are you carrying drugs?
4) How much cash are you carrying?
