Danba, Sichuan information

Hi friends

The more I read about the Danba area west of Chengdu, the more I want to visit. I will be in Chengdu 8 days in Oct and would like to spend four in the Danba area. I know it takes about 8 hours by bus to get there so that leaves two full days in the area for hiking etc. Is this too much or would one full day be adequate? Also does anyone have hotel or homestay recommendations? I know they say Danba town is nothing special, bit it looks like there are villages to the northeast and northwest from there.
I thank you in advance for your time and suggestions. Experienced traveller here, no budget to speak of.
