Brief stay in Osaka area

Hi,

im going to have to make one of those very boring "im going somehwere for this many days and im wondering what i should do" posts:

I am going to Japan on tuesday, as a rather un-well-planned trip. i will be staying at a friends place in Osaka, and just wondering what i should be considering seeing in teh region, re towns, villages, mountains, stuff like that. i am a photographer, and much of my [only 6 days] will probably be spent doing some hunting around for upgrades to my camera equipment... so i guess time is short.

also, how much would i expect to pay, and what are the specifics of getting train from the airport into Osaka?
