Beijing, Shanghai, or Hong Kong for bespoke suits?Country forums / North-East Asia / China
I will be visiting these 3 cities in a few weeks, and would love to know which city would be the most advantageous in terms of quality and price? I understand that you get what you pay for, but which city provides the best "value"? Also, any recommendations for tailors? Thanks!
what level are you looking? The value is going to be different at different price ranges. | 1
Even in HK, suits are almost always cut and sewn up on the Mainland these days, though of course fitted in HK. But tailoring is only half the suit. The other half is the fabric, and you're going to find a far broader selection of imported fabrics in free-port HK than in Shanghai or Beijing. That said, I don't think the "HK-suit" business is anything like it used to be. | 2
I was thinking of spending $300-$400 for a suit, and buying 2 of them plus maybe 3 shirts. | 3

I don't think that's going to buy you much in Hong Kong. | 5
