Air fares, Beijing to Ulaan BaatarCountry forums / North-East Asia / Mongolia
I hope to fly from Beijing to Ulaan Baatar the last week of April. The only flights I have found were on China Air and the Mongolian airline, for over $500 US one way. I am wondering if anyone knows of a cheaper fare or another airline. Thanks for any information.
There are three airlines that operate between Beijing and UB. MIAT, the Mongolian Airlines, Air China (not china air) and Aeromongolia. I am not sure that the latter actually lands in Beijing. I recall someone saying that they land someplace else and bus people to Beijing. It is an expensive route to fly because there is little to no competition. Ruth | 1
Thanks for the information. Ithought that was probably the situation. I think the train is my best option. Thanks again. | 2
As of February 2008, an Air China roundtrip (not one-way) flight (Ulaanbaatar to Beijing) was $660 and MIAT is $420. I strongly recommend working with a travel agent, not trying to book this flight online. The travel agents have much better prices than the online services like Expedia. For example, where Expedia shows a $900 roundtrip on Air China, the travel agent can get it for $660. Basically, you cannot access the cheapest Beijing to UB flights online. You need to use a local travel agent. I recommend the following travel agencies for air tickets from Beijing to UB: Nyamka Richard Tian | 3
Just bought roundtrip tickets Beijing-UB-Beijing for RMB$2760 through CTRIP to travel last week of april. | 4
Number 4, that sounds like a good deal. Thanks. I found the web site. It says international flights cannot be booked online, and listed a phone number. How did you book your flight? Thanks again. | 5
