for an individual trip and just looking to hear peoples experiences of the

I am a lone female traveller planning to visit Tibet and Nepal during October/November 2012. Was hoping to travel to Tibet from Nepal instead of China. Have posted on Nepal forum but have learnt I will have to spend some days in Kathmandu to arrange passport formalities etc before entering Tibet.

Is it better and easier to enter Tibet via Chengdu rather than Kathmandu. (was hoping to avoid time in China) I know that I will need permit, guide, 4x4 etc to visit Tibet.

I am looking to do a tour to Mt Kailesh (kora) plus Everest Base Camp and would like to include the following destinations.

Lhasa, Gyantse, Shigatse, Sakya, Lhatse, Lake Manasarovar, Mt Kailesh (Including 3 days kora), Old Tingri, Rongbuk, Everest Base Camp and then back to Lhasa.

I would also like to visit Guge kingdom (if possible??)

Is it possible to do this tour in approx 15 days? If not what is best to leave out to fit in the schedule.

I am looking at visiting Amdo of the Tibetan Plateau (part of Qinghai Province) this June or July. I know that I'll land in Xining. I checked with few Tibetan tour agencies there and they are bit beyond my budget.

One of them suggested me to travel independently around Xining. I imagine I could go to Rebkong via bus. I am trying to figure out how to go camp in Tsekong grasslands with nomads and visit Mt. Amnye Machen independently. Is that even possible?

Hi there, hoping to hear from anyone who has travelled to Tibet in August. I know the weather issue has been discussed in other posts. I am hoping to to do a trip to cover the Nagchu horse racing festival in August and then follow the Everest base camp route to Nepal. My problem is the base camp is a huge highlight for me and I would hate to get there and have no views or Everest whatsoever. On the other hand I think the Nagchu festival will be amazing. 1,Does anyone travelled the areas of Chang tang,?i would like to get advices where are the better places for overnight, also for camping../more pleasent sites, monasteries, lakes/, nomad areas/ not dusty cities...
on the route from Ali to Gegye, Gertse, Tsochen..
2,Does anyoone visit places of Dunkar and Pyinag caves in Guge area?is there any problem for camping there?

I have roughly 7days to travel from Chengdu to Kathmandu (Depart evening 22nd of April to arrive daytime 28th April 2012), I am currently working with an agent to organise a private tour along the below-

Chengdu to Lhasa (Worlds highest train ride), Day tour of Lhasa, Friendship Hwy stopping off at Yamdrok Tso Lake,Shigatse,Tashilhunpo Monastery and ending at border town of Zhangmu. Own transport to be arranged to Kathmandu.

As i have met some guide fro Tibet they simply mention about Tibetan Buddhism. I need a perfect guide who is have vast knowledge regarding the Buddhism in Tibet. I asked some of the agent in Tibet but they are not responding correctly. if any body please help.
