Hi!
I am planning on traveling in Tibet in JULY with limited budget, I have several questions wishing someone could answer, thank you very much!

1. I heard that JULY is high traveling season, thus it's very difficult to book hotels/hostels, prices are much higher than elsewhere in China. So exactly how difficult is it to book reasonably priced hostel beds in July (in Lahsa and elsewhere if possible)? Do you have any hostels to recommend in Tibet that is reasonably priced?
2. I don't have the…

Does anyone have experiences in visiting Nagqu Horse Festival ? Especially, permit, transportation , and LC rental.

Any suggestion of travel agencies that offered LC rental and tour going to Nagqu?

Thank you in advance,

Hi !
As I don't have many information about Qinghai and Gansu from the travel book, does somebody know how is the road from Xiahe to Repkong and then to Xining ? How are the surroundings, the people, the villages ? Are there local busses ? How many hours (days ?) to join these 3 places ?
Many thanks
Sabine

RE: the train from Guangzhou to Lhasa, has anyone found a way to purchase the TTB permit in Guangzhou? Several posts from early spring asked the same thing, but I couldn't find any solid followups in the forum archives. Also, is it still impossible for foreign passport holders to buy a Guangzhou-Lhasa ticket in Hong Kong (Hung Hom)? Thanks...

This may seem like a really dumb question but I was wondering what the adsolute necessary shots and vaccinnations are for travelling to tibet. Everyone has a opinion and I am interested in hearing yours. I have gone to the doctor already and she gave me a diarrea shot and I think rabbies shot.not sure....she told me that the rest of the shots were going to be very expensive. My shots at the time were also based on travelling to Thailand and now i am only doing Chengdu and Tibet. Should i…

Hi:
I am in Bangkok and I will be purchasing roundtrip tickets to Mongolia and China, which will include air tickets from Chengdu(via Air China) to Lhasa. Will my ticket price include the Tibet permit for Lhasa? If it does, will I actually see some sort of permit paperwork upon arrival in Lhasa? I get the impression that some people do and some people do not.

Hello TT-ers,

Re altitude sickness - all the info I read tells you to ascend slowly. But what does this mean? It always seem to mean walking/trekking.

But does it also apply to plane travel? We are planning, on our way to Tibet, to spend 1-2 weeks in Yunnan, including Zhongdian (3200m). I was hoping it would help in acclimatising to Lhasa, as well as an opportunity to see Yunnan. However I presume we will be flying into Lhasa. Is this a problem? I guess my question is how long does…
