Hello

We are two people looking to go on a Lhasa - Everest Base Camp - Lhasa trip at the end of September. I have been quoted 8000 Yuan for 4wd/Driver/Guide which is out of our budget. Can anybody tell me if the current situation in Lhasa mean this price will be standard. I was told a registered guide is neccessary which is driving up the cost. Any information would be valued and appreciated.

Thanks again

I've got a free trip to Tibet next month! An opportunity too good to pass up on and the only downside is that I won't be able to decide where we stay and what we will be seeing, but hey, it's free!

But, my question is what to pack, particularly clothing and as it looks like we will be on the move every couple of days? So, my question is it easy to find places to get my laundry done?... We're staying in 3 star hotels apparently and I would like to think that I could get it done at the hotels, but…

Hello,

Is it easy to get a place on the train from Lhasa to Beijing?

I've heard stories that it gets sold out very quickly.
I'm planning to travel mid-late September.

Thanks for your help,

Matt

Hello,

I'm looking at travelling from Yunnan to Lhasa (either flying or overland), and then take the train to Beijing.

I understand there are travel agents in Shangri-la and in Kunming who can arrange the required permits and the trip itself.
I'm looking for feedback from people who have done this.

What was your experience with the travel agent you chose?
Any problems with altitude sickness?
Was it easy to get a spot on the train out to Beijing?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Matt

I am in Kashgar and am heading to Tibet. I hear a jeep can be procured for about $1000. If I can find three others I'd go that way instead of the bus/Hitch. I can leave Mon or around the end of next week if I go down the KKH.

I would also appreciate any up to date advice on buses/jeeps/schedules etc. please eMail or reply.

thanks

I'm living in Nepal for the moment and am planning a trip to Pakistan but am hitting a few snags. First I'm on a major budget so I'm hoping i can get it all done on public transport over land. Also, I'd like to start in Nepal, go through Tibet to hook up with the Korakoram Hiway, and then cross into Northern Pakistan, then south to cross at Waga.

I've heard all sorts of stories about how to get into Tibet cheaply and be able to travel freely north west without doing Lhasa (i've been, two years…

Does anyone know how people are getting Potala tickets these days? I've heard people are lining up from 3am and still missing out!
