Hello. I recently saw this dvd which I thought was very well done, however the following questioned me to consider the authenticity of several movie scenes. In the movie the Tibetans are chasing poachers until they fall, bleeding, out of breath, suffering from pulmonary edema. Is this possible? Can natives…

I'm in Lhasa now. I want to goto Samye & Yumbulagang Monasteries preferably leaving Sept. 6 (perhaps later if you're interested). 2-3 day trip or longer.

1. Anyone want to join me (I'm an American, late 20's, male)?
2. Do I really need a permit to goto these places? If so, is there anyway to get one without hiring a landcruiser?
3. If I do get caught without a permit, what's the worst that could happen? I heard the fine is just 500 yuan, which sounds much better than the 2000 yuan to rent a…

We are 2 American girls (25) looking for a few people share a jeep with us!

We'd like to leave Lhasa on Tuesday (Sept 4), swing by Shigatse, Gyantse, EBC, and anything else intriguing along the way, coming back to Lhasa on Saturday (Sept 9). We can be a bit flexible with the dates...

Depending on the number of people, the price would be somewhere around 1000-1500 kuai.

Call me or send me a private message (my phone may be out of service during a day tip tomorrow). 134 0211 1135 Sarah

I am taking the Trans-Mongolian train to Beijing, arriving 23 September, and then travelling on to Nepal via Lhasa. I have been told that the Beijing - Lhasa train is likely to be very busy at this time and that it may be hard to get a ticket. I am travelling from Britain and I get the impression it's not worth trying to book onto this train from home.
Any comments please?
Thanks

Hi

Thanks for your help before, I have decided to spend a day in Ganden, but am struggling to find information on how long the koras take - does anyone know how long the high kora takes compared to the low kora? Is the high kora strenuous (especially at that altitude) and do the koras link up in any way?

Is the high kora more scenic than the low one (i.e. if we do the high one need we not bother with the low one?)

Thanks

Share Jeep. Kashgar to Ali

I am in Kashgar and am heading to Tibet. I hear a jeep can be procured for about $1000. If I can find three others I'd go that way instead of the bus/Hitch. I am hoping to leave ASAP.

I would also appreciate any up to date advice on buses/jeeps/schedules etc. please eMail or stop by QiniBagh Hotel room #310.

thanks
