I have booked a Mt. Kailash trip which, if all goes according to plan (HA!), will get me to the Nepal border on the day my visa expires. What happens it I arrive a day or two late? I've heard the fine is 500 Y per day. I will have an itinerary from the travel agent indicating my scheduled arrival.
Hello!
we are a group of 4 friends from Spain, and we're going to Tibet the first days of october. I think we'll arrive there the 29th of september, and stay until the 7th of october.
Do you think we could have any problem if we go there by plane from Chengdu, with TTB permit, and later we want to go out of Lhasa? Can we arrange PSB permits when we arrive in Lhasa? we'd like to go to EBC and some monasteries, but we have read some information on the internet about problems if you don't book a tour…
Hi. I'am here again. I have been reading and found out most visas to China are only for one month. I want to spend at least 2 months and besides that , go to Vietnam,Laos, Cambodia (I will leave and enter China only once in this region) but I have read that entering Hong Kong and coming back , people need a new visa. Is possibly or difficult to get a multiply entry visa?. Thanks,
Hi guys.I've been reading a lot about how to go to Lhasa. It looks everybody is going from China and not from Katmandu. I am planning to go to asia (Iran, pakistan, India, etc) so it woulb be the easiest way to enter txh Katmandu but according with the info I got , it is very difficult or imposible for independent travellers. They have to join a group but the worst is they have to leave China with the same group or get a new visa after leaving Tibet and also is very expensive .
My question is…
Hi there,
My friends and I are looking to book an overnight 4WD tour to Namtso on the 10th September. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what company to book with? Any idea what an average price is? Also, any reccomendations on equipment to bring/where to hire it? Thanks!
Hello Pros,
We're in Xi'an for a few days before heading out west (not Xining) and then down through the desert into Golmud and from there on to Lhasa. Therefore, we're trying to organize the Tibet permit here in Xi'an, but the hostel we're staying at only does it for 800 Yuan each, which we thought was quite expensive. Any suggestions on other places you've gone to or heard about going to in the city to get a better price?
One more query - has anyone had luck getting a hard-sleeper from…
We will be in Tibet October 11-20. We are planning to stay in Lhasa for a few days, and also do a Gyantse-Shigatse-EBC-Namtso trip. Our question is: is it necessary to book hotels ahead of time during this season? We have been contacting Tenzin from Tibet Nakqu International Travel, and he recommends booking in advance. However, we would prefer to have a look at the hotels first before we commit to staying, if that is possible. Also, we heard that often you can bargain at the hotel reception…
Namaste!
I need to make a real quick decision on whether to go Kathmandu to Lhasa overland end of Sept. OR Lhasa to Kathmandu.
Anyone done both?
Love to hear your views
BEst wishes.

Hi, my husband and I will be in Tibet for three weeks starting Sept 10 and wanted to do a short (~3-5 day) trekking trip during that time, maybe from Tingri to EBC, or Ganden to Samye, or (if there is enough time) in the Kangshung area of Everest (other suggestions that would work within our time frame would be welcome!).
Can anyone recommend a reliable trekking agency? Seems like Windhorse Adventure (www.windhorsetibet.com) comes highly regarded, although I have heard that it is a bit pricey…
What would the consequences be if I was found to be travelling without a Tibet travel permit? Would travel only inside Lhasa be any different?
