Hi There, I've just been in contact with Trailfinders travel agency and they have told me I cant buy a train ticket from Beijing to Lhasa until 3 days before depature as the goverment have tightened the laws?! Online I've read that you can buy tickets from seat61 in advance by 10 days or more.. I want to book a trip in Tibet but dont want to shell out any cash if I cant get there on time..

If anyone can clarify that would be great.

Many Thanks

Steve

Hello,

I read that there was a bus service from Lhasa to Shigatse, and from Shigatse to Zhangmu at the Nepal border.

I will be arriving to Lhasa with a group (organized by agency) from Kathmandu, and I want to go back to Nepal by bus.

Can I get to those buses after leaving the group at Lhasa? Is there another cheap way to go from Lhasa back to Nepal (not by flight)?

Thank you,

Liran.

Does anyone know what the present state of the road is between Lhasa and Kathmandu? Have they finished the work on the new road? And how good is this road - is it much better at withstanding the onslaught of the monsoon? Not considering the climatechanges, how early and how often does the road usually get closed during monsoon?

I want to make a tour from Chengdu to Lhasa and after that to Kathmandu.

Do I have to book train tickets in advance or can I book traintickets in advance before having a travel permit?

How to obtain a travel permit for Tibet?

We know we need a guide in Tibet, how to arrange that, because we are budget travellers we want to travel low budget, so I think we need a bigger group (we are with 2 people now)?

Is there maybe a office where we can arrange everything in advance so we can go to tibet…

I read in LP China:
Gamden per chapel: 20Y. For filming 1500 Y !!!!!
Drepung 20Y per chapel
etc...

How about other places?? Jokhang, Potala, etc...??

can someone make a list?
Which temple is worth the money???
which chapel is worth the money ??
I hope I can film with a small hand-camera in Gamden, Potala,etc....
or is 1500 only for INSIDE the Temple???

We just returned from Labrang / Xiahe area
No filming inside the buildings beside the printing blocks building.

Hi All,

My girlfriend and I (both UK) are looking to do a trip (around 8 days or so) from Lhasa into Nepal around the end of August / start of September and of course the more people, the lower the cost. We are quite flexible on dates and places so in the first instance please let me know if anybody out there is interested.

Cheers
