Hello all,

I am now considering doing a trip from Kahtmandu - Lhasa - Kashgar starting around 1st July.

1/ Do anyone have information to do this trip at minimal cost (bus) ? I read infos saying that there are 2 different bus that can make this road together.

2/ Do anyone want to join ?! Maybe share 4X4 is ok cause it is expensive...

I am a French on a world tour and speak Chinese.

We were told by an agency that we need six digits PIN number (not four digits PIN number) If we want to use ATM machine for getting cash in Lhasa. Is it true?
Thank you.

Alright, I am planning an EBC hiking trip beginning in the last week of May. I am currently in Sichuan, China, but have decided to do the trek from the Nepal side for various reasons (cheaper, better hiking, better scenery, etc.) As such, I plan to get the necessary TTB permit to enter the TAR to Lhasa by train. From there, take a bus along the friendship highway to Kathmandu and a bus to Sagamartha ntl. park, and from there to EBC.

To return to China, I will just reverse the steps.

I'm…

Hi (again!)

I just posted for the first time after signing up and here I am again!

As I had mentioned in the earlier post - two of us are (hopefully!) travelling to Tibet in the middle of May for two weeks. We are most likely booking our tour with Snowlion. We feel their room rates are a bit high, particularly outside Lhasa, so am hoping for a little help here.

If anyone can help with accommodation suggestions in - Gyantse, Shigatse, Shegar, EBC (tents) and Namtso (tents) it'll be much…

Hi

I have been reading TT for a long time and have found many useful tips, interesting facts/stories and entertaining threads. And have finally signed up to post something!

Two of us are (hopefully!) travelling to Tibet in the middle of May for two weeks and would love to have one or two people join us to make our "group" economical and fun! We like to see and absorb places rather than rush through them. We love food, reading and of course traveling! More info for those who write back!

We are…

Hey!
I'm staying right now in China so I'm a little bit flexible concerning my time table for travelling to Tibet. I can start my tour in the period from 4th-20th of June

The tour which I'm really prefering is the following:
Day 1-3 Lhasa
Day 4 Lhasa - Namtso Lake
Day 5 Namtso Lake - Gyantse
Day 6 Gyantse - Shigatse
Day 7 Sakya Monastery - EBC
Day 8 EBC - Kodari (Nepal Border)

But I can also make this one:
Day 1-3 Lhasa
Day 4 Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - Gyantse
Day 5 Gyantse - Shigatse
Day 6 Shigatse - Sakya…

Hi everyone:
As I plan my next trip to Tibet I am wondering about the cost per day of a Land Cruiser, Driver and Guide. I will be mostly in Lhasa but want to go to Ganden for a day. Can anyone tell me what I would expect to pay? I have permit and so forth, just wondering what I will pay for that one day (out and back same day). Thanks for your feedback.
