Hi, my husband and I will be in Tibet for three weeks starting Sept 10 and wanted to do a short (~3-5 day) trekking trip during that time, maybe from Tingri to EBC, or Ganden to Samye, or (if there is enough time) in the Kangshung area of Everest (other suggestions that would work within our time frame would be welcome!).
Can anyone recommend a reliable trekking agency? Seems like Windhorse Adventure (www.windhorsetibet.com) comes highly regarded, although I have heard that it is a bit pricey (not sure what "pricey" there means, though).
Also, if there are companies you would not recommend, that would also be good to know.
Cheers!
Shirley

I have met with some people from Tibet Wind Horse Adventure and in my opinion they are very trustworthy, reliable and experienced. I highly recommend them.

Would probably suggest Ganden - Samye, for its closer proximity to Lhasa; Kangshung is a river walk for a couple of days, and really needs 8-9 days to see the views, plus transport there is non-trivial, as is altitude gain to the Sao La and Langma La. You can do the G-S trek very easily, reputedly nice countryside as well. The Dingri walk did not look spectacular for much of the country near Dingri, and subject to strong winds in the afternoons.
If going to Nepal afterwards, you could also consider the remote and very attractive Shishapangma Base Camp walk - you can make this as many days as you like, by adding the Kong La and Kong Tso to the 1-2 days up the valley from a base at Nyalam - return the same way or come back to the Friendship Hwy to the north of Kong Tso. Apart from the La, you can stroll up past Drakpochen not much of a rise to the terrain, unless you explore side valleys, which is recommended by Gary McCue..and if spare days permit the country near Pelku Tso was far more to our tastes than the Dingri area - just another opinion and data point!
Best luck with wherever you go..
