Hi there,

I need advice on china visa I live in uk I am planning a trip to Beijing onto Lhasa to ebc to exit in Kathmandu.
Can I apply for visa with one way ticket to Beijing stating we are travelling around china for a month and booking return ticket whilst in china?

Also Travelling from Lhasa approx 24-25 th August 2012 looking to book with Tibet connections and also looking for 2 possible travel companions I am 36 yr old male travelling with my nephew who is in his 20 s based in Preston uk. This is our trip of a life time it would be great to travel with like minded travellers through to Everest base camp. Rough itinery and cost below not booked yet but need to ASAP .

1: Take the train from Xining-Lhasa
Day 2: Arrive in Lhasa in the evening
Day 3: Lhasa (Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Square)
(Jokhang Temple is the holiest temple in Tibet, Barkhor Square is a great experience! Participate going around the kora with the many pilgrims that come to Lhasa, Use the day to acclimatize to the altitude)
Day 4: Lhasa (Potala Palace, Norbulingka)
(Potala Palace the home of the Dalai Lama built in the 7th century, Norbulingka is the summer home of the Dalai Lama and is the most important picnic spot in Tibet)
Day 5: Lhasa (Ramoche Temple, Sera Monastery)
(Ramoche Temple is built by Princess Wencheng and contains a famous Sakyamnoni statue brought from Nepal, Sera Monastery is the 3rd biggest monastery in the Lhasa region and is famous for it’s afternoon monk debates)
Day 6: Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - Gyantse
Visit Yamdrok Lake which is one of the holiest lakes in Tibet and is shaped like a scorpion, After Yamdrok Lake visit Karola glacier, Once in Gyantse visit Kumbum Stupa known as the most impressive architecture in Tibet established in 14th and 15th century, after Kumbum.
Day 7: Gyantse - Shigatse (Tashi Lhunpo, Pachen Lama)
(visit Tashi Lhunpo which is the largest Yellow Hat sect monastery in the Tsang region built by the 1st Dalai Lama, and is now the seat of the Panchen Lama. Panchen Lama Summer Palace has very impressive murals)
Day 8: Shigatse - Sakya Monastery-Everest Base Camp
(Sakya is a very beautiful old monastery, Stay in the tent city or Rongbuk Monastery guesthouse. Stay in the tent city or Rongbuk Monastery guesthouse. Rongbuk Monastery is the highest monastery on Earth)
Day 9: Everest Base Camp-Old Tingri (drive along the Himalaya to Old Tingri)
Day 10: Old Tingri-Nepal border at Zhangmu
(This day includes great views of Mount Everest, Jowoya Mountain, and Shishapangma from the Nylam Thangla pass. The drive to the border is a great drop in elevation and stunning scenery) Day 11: Cross the border in the morning

2 people: Y5550/per
3 people: Y4245/per
4 people: Y3575/per
(Everest Base Camp fee is not include it is: Y400 for the car and Y180 entrance fee per person, you are also required to pay the guides entrance fee) 1500 y deposit per person when booking.

Theres been a lot said on here lately about the need to show in and out flights and accommodation to get a visa. See if you can find the posts.

Mentioning Tibet in any form will see your application flatly refused. Even prior to having to show air tickets, the Embassies knew people went overland to Nepal but didnt want to know about it.

Agree with Westwood.......Definitely do NOT mention Tibet on your Chinese visa application.

Maybe flatly refused were the wrong words in my case. The guy at the Embassy gave me a felt pen to block it out then accepted the same application form. I explained I'd put it there because we were going into Nepal. According to him, if I'd held a TTP, it would have been okay. But you cant get the TTP without a visa. Chinese logic.
