I plan to fly into Lhasa in early August. How easy will it be to book the train back to Chengdu from Lhasa or is there anyway at all to book it in advance?

Unfortunately, in China, we can only buy train tickets 10 days in advance. In Lhasa, just go to Tourism Bureau of Tibet Municipality on Rd. Lobulinka to buy the tickets by yourself. You can show the Chinese people the address as ÂÞ²¼ÁÖ¿¨Â·µÄ×ÔÖÎÇøÂÃÓξֳµÆ±´úÊÛµã. Good Luck! And it's normally easy to buy.

#2, just change the browser view encoding options to GB2312 (Simplified Chinese) for the Chinese characters to display properly.

By the way, non-Chinese people need the Tibet Travel Permits to buy the train tickets in Lhasa.
