Hi,

we will travel from Pekin to Lhasa (by train), and then to Kathmandu (by car). Do anybody know what kind of permit or visa will we need??. We are a EU team.

Thanks ¡

I recommend starting by reading the following links:

Travel in Tibet

Arranging travel in Tibet

You will need a Chinese Tourist Visa and then you will need to contact a travel agency to arrange an organized tour for you. All foreigners going to the Tibet Autonomous Region need to have an organized tour that includes travel permits (sometimes multiple permits are required for different regions), a tour guide and a private vehicle and a driver. All you need to do is get your Chinese tourist visa. The travel agency you use will obtain all necessary permits for you. For the route you are taking ( Lhasa to the Nepal border ), you will need a Tibet Travel Permit and an Alien Travel Permit. Again, you don't need to worry about obtaining travel permits as the agency will take care of those for you.

Right now it would appear that being "a EU team" won't help you unless you all have the same passport.
