Hi everyone.

We have booked a Ganden--> Samye trek through Sim's Cozy. We wanted to provide our own food for the trek, but were told that we should not bring any because it would be provided for us.

My question:
1) Is the food provided generally sufficient in these types of arrangements? What type of food is prepared usually--i.e. same thing at every meal; cheapest grub possible etc.?
2) Should we bring our stove just in case so we are able to cook extra food, or things we're more used to while hiking?

In general, what are people's experiences with these types of treks with respect to food? Do you leave your stoves at home?

For what it's worth, we specified we were just looking for a guide and pack animal, so I don't believe we are part of a large commercial outfit. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Food quality on guided treks varies significantly

Have you considered asking Sim's to let you know exactly what your meals will be?

No matter what meals they provide - bringing your own stove is a usually a waste of time (although a super light jetboil can be rather handy)

Stock up with cinnamon rolls and other goodies from the Summit Cafe and you'll be fine!!
