Hi all, we had planned a trip to Tibet in May and were informed today that the authorities currently do not issue permits to members of the same group if they have different nationalities. Has anybody encountered this before ? Is there a way to deal with this ? Thanks. N.

Sometimes when the Tibet Autonomous Region has been closed for period of time, they require foreign travelers to be in small groups and for all of them to be of the same nationality when it reopens. Currently, this rule is being applied and there is no way around it. Early rumors suggest this restriction will only be in place for a couple of weeks, but it is impossible to say for certain.
