Hey All,
We are two English teachers(23 and 24 years old) from the states currently living in Taiwan. We are looking for about another two people or so to join on the 9 day “Himalayan Journey” — We will be traveling from Lhasa all the way to the Nepal border. We want to see the Potala Palace, the Jowo Buddha at the holy Jokhang Temple, Barkhor market, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery, turquoise Yamdrok Lake, Gyantse, Shigatse, Mt. Everest Base Camp, and then drive along the Himalayan ranges to the Nepal border.

We want to start the trip around August 12th. We are on a relatively tight budget and would love to split the costs with a few other people. Please feel free to email me at rachelmslater13@gmail.com.

Hey All,
There are now three of us traveling from Lhasa to the Nepal border. We are leaving on the 10th of August from Lhasa. We are still looking for 1 or 2 more people to travel with us on this trip. Below is the itinerary and list of prices for four people:

The price of this trip is 4700Y(724.05 USD) per person for a group of 4 people.
Prices include all permits, accommodation (double room at 3 star/locally better hotel, yak hair tent at EBC), Tibetan English-speaking guide, Land Cruiser outside of Lhasa, Tibetan driver and driver and guide's food and accommodation.Price does not include food, plane/train tickets, or entrance tickets (EBC vehicle fee is 400Y(61.62), per person is 180Y(27.73USD), incl. the guide for whom the group is responsible for paying).
If you want to have a budget hotel or guesthouse. It will be 450Y(69.32USD) cheaper than above price for the Himalayan Journey tour.

Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa [3658m]

Day 2: Lhasa---visit the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor square

Day 3: Lhasa---Visit the Norbulingka, Sera monastery

Day 4: Lhasa---Visit Drepung, Nechung temple, Ramoche, a small monastery located in the city center.

Day 5: Lhasa – Gyantse [3950m], 268km, 5.5 hours-----drive to Gyantse, cross over the Kamba-La (4794m) and the Karo-La passes (5010m), which boast spectacular views. After Kamba-La, arrive at Yamdrok Lake, a holy turquoise-colored lake with stunning scenery. Stay the night in Gyantse.

Day 6: Gyantse – Shigatse [3836m], 90km, 1.5 hours----visit the Pelkor Chode Kumbum and Gyantse Monastery followed by a two hour drive to Shigatse. Spend the night in Shigatse.

Day 7: Shigatse – Shegar (New Tingri) [4500m], 240km, 4 hours----drive to Shegar (4350m) over Tso-La pass (4500m) and Gyatso-La pass (5252m). visit Sakya Monastery (4280m). Visit Shegar Monastery or climb up the ruins of Shegar Dzong for beautiful views. Overnight in Shegar.

Day 8: Shegar – Rongbuk Monastery [5000m] – Everest Base Camp [5250m], 100km, 8 hours----Rongbuk Monastery, where you will have a fabulous view of Mt. Everest. Rongbuk monastery is the highest monastery in the world. Rongbuk Monastery to Everest is about 8km, and along the way there are spectacular views of the world’s tallest mountain. You can either take a two-hour hike or ride a bus to Everest Base Camp. Stay the night in a warm yak-hair tent guesthouse run by a Tibetan family. (Alternative accommodation: Rongbuk Monastery Guesthouse)

Day 9: Everest Base Camp – Nepal border (Zhangmu) [2300m], 240km, 10 hours-----You will see spectacular Himalayan ranges along the way to Nepal border. Once at the border, cross over, pass through immigration and continue on to Kathmandu, or return to Lhasa.
