We had wanted to stay in a boutique hotel in Lhasa after 1-week of overland travel in Qinghai and a 26-hr train journey into Lhasa. House of Shambhala was all that we expected - quiet, comfortable, great service and lovely food. We spent most of the day resting at the place in preparation for another overland trip from Lhasa to Nepal.

We had the largest of the suites (Room 204). It was spacious, beautiful and well-designed. No plumbing problems as mentioned in some posts in TripAdvisor. It has a rooftop restaurant and its massage room is just next door.

We also stayed at it's sister property just outside Beijing, Shambhala at The Great Wall. Also another charming accomodation (see my report in the China section).
