The cheapest way must be contacting to Lhasa office, but you need wait 4 days or more in Xining for the paper fax return to you. Actualy for entering Tibet you are using a copy of the permit.

Hello, we´re 4 friends who´d also like to enter Tibet from Bejing in August and are wondering if it´s possible to get a permit without an organized tour. Is the Xining office or the Lhasa office in Bejing or is it better to get a permit from another city like Chengdu? We´re looking forward to an answer, thanks from confused Annette

Does anyone know where you can get permits for Tibet in Xi'an? My friend and I live in Xi'an and were hoping to catch the train from Xi'an to Lhasa. I have asked the Bell Tower Hostel, who used to do permits and they said they can't do them anymore.

I am not in China for another two months but once I get there I will be very busy. I won't have time to wait for a fax at Xining or anywhere else.Will it be possible for me to get this TTB before I arrive in China?
