Hi

Thanks for your help before, I have decided to spend a day in Ganden, but am struggling to find information on how long the koras take - does anyone know how long the high kora takes compared to the low kora? Is the high kora strenuous (especially at that altitude) and do the koras link up in any way?

Is the high kora more scenic than the low one (i.e. if we do the high one need we not bother with the low one?)

Thanks

The Koras do link up. Hard to explain, but it will be fairly obvious when you get there. The low one is about an hour. The high one could take 3-4hrs (not sure as I did it in 2 parts, going uo to the top of the high kora for sunset).

They will both make you puff. If you have only just got to Lhasa I wouldn't recommend the high Kora as you are likely to really struggle. If you've been in Tibet a bit longer you will be fine, just remember to pace yourself.

Ohh, I forgot about the views. The views from the top of the High Kora a stunning, right down over the Monastery and the valleys and mountains around. The Low kora also has great views, but if you've got the energy go high.

Bantonia's info is spot on. If you are acclimitised and feeling adventurous.....take a mountainbke up to the summit (its a long push!!) above the high kora......head south for a bit and look for the single track. Then ride the single track back to the road. The road is a crazy switch backed thing but heaps fun. (now fully paved) Last time I was up there we sat and watch the clouds late afternoon before 3 of us rode down and 1 of us flew down (paraglider) We met up at the main road for a quick swim in the stream to wash off the dust and some cold beers!!

ENJOY
