I have been following most threads on the situation about getting into Tibet. Now it appears clear to me that if you want to book a flight from, say, Chengdu to Lhasa you better do it through an agency, if you want to get the permit.
Now my question is: what about booking a flight FROM Lhasa (I would need a flight Lhasa-Guangzhou or Shenzhen)? Can I use a website such as yoee.com or ticket9588.com to book a flight? Has anyone ever booked an e-ticket flight departing from Lhasa? Did you have any kind of problem when checking in with an e-ticket in Lhasa airport?

Considering that all information around flying into Lhasa is so confusing and changes from time to time, I don't think it is so strange to inquiry about how to fly out from Tibet. And, yes, I was asking if any kind of permit was needed to fly out of Tibet.
Anyway, thanks for your answer. However, if any non-Chinese citizen can provide first-hand info on flying out of Lhasa with an e-ticket, I would appreciate it.

Well, this is indeed my first post here, but on my browser the heading reads "Thorn Tree - Travel forum". Out of some "naive" spirit, those words made me think that this was definitely the place to ask travel-related questions. Maybe someone else could shed some light on this and tell us what should be asked in this forum and what not.

Nahman, this is the right place to ask travel related questions and your question is a good one since there is a lot of confusion about traveling to and from Lhasa. Please pay no attention to the remarks made by #1 and #3. Most people who post on this forum provide very good, up-to-date travel information and are very friendly. There are lots of posts on this forum about Tibet. By scrolling through some of the older posts, you will probably find your answer, but if not feel free to post any travel question you have. That is why this forum exists.
Yes, you can book tickets leaving Lhasa through sites such as the ones you listed. There is no need to go through a travel agency to get a flight out of Lhasa. To leave Lhasa no permit is needed. You will have no problems departing Lhasa with an e-ticket.

My husband and I flew out of Lhasa on the first of August on an Air China e-ticket. There were no problems with the ticket. However, our guide placed all three of our bags on the scale, which then went forward before we could retrieve the one we planned to carry on the plane. The gate agent told us that it could not be retrieved, and we had to pay $33USD for excess baggage. The interesting thing is that we had checked the same amount of baggage on a China Eastern flight from Zhongdian to Lhasa, and there was no extra charge. My advice would be to use China Eastern if possible.
