Hello!

we are a group of 4 friends from Spain, and we're going to Tibet the first days of october. I think we'll arrive there the 29th of september, and stay until the 7th of october.

Do you think we could have any problem if we go there by plane from Chengdu, with TTB permit, and later we want to go out of Lhasa? Can we arrange PSB permits when we arrive in Lhasa? we'd like to go to EBC and some monasteries, but we have read some information on the internet about problems if you don't book a tour before arriving in Tibet. Although we have read as well a lot of topics in this forum and nobody seems to have had any trouble when arranging PSB permits in Lhasa. We are arriving on Saturday to Lhasa, do you think the FIT agency will be opened?

We'd like to hire a 4x4 to make our trip out of Lhasa, for 5 days more or less. How much could it cost? maybe prices will increase a lot that week... Could you reccomend us any good -and cheap, as possible- agency (we'd prefer tibetan ones) or a good tibetan guide to hire the car?

Have you got BanakShol, Kyichu or Yak email's addresses? we'd like to check if they have rooms available for us in that dates. If you had any other cheap hostels e-mail adresses it would be great as well.

If you have any advice or tips for our trip, everything will be welcome!!

Thank you very much for your help!! :)

You will probably have major problems trying to get on the plane without your permit. People are often checked for it when checking in. You are less likely to be checked for your permit taking the train, but someone recently posted that they were checked on the train as well.

For trips out of Lhasa I would contact the FIT Travel office located inside the Banak Shol Hotel.

You need a permit to fly out from chengdu to lhasa, it can be a formality but they check it, ours was for the 11th of august but the plane was on the 8th.

Thank you very much for your answers, we already know about the TTB permits and are arranging them with the flights, so we don't care about being checked for them. Our major doubt is about PSB permits, but I guess we won't have problems if arranging trips out of Lhasa through the Banak Shol's FIT travel office (anyone knows if it would be opened on saturdays?).

Could you tell us anything about the other questions? we specially need some information about accomodation (e-mails, etc.), we have tried to make a reservation for two days through Mix Hostel in Chengdu and they have said they can't do that for that dates.

Thanks!! :)
