I'm about to apply for a China visa and have been told by a few people that if I'm planning on visiting Tibet, it's better to omit this on the part of the visa form that asks you to list the places you intend to visit, as this could result in problems obtaining a visa. Does anyone know if this is the case? thanks.
I (even though I knew better) wrote Tibet because of overlanding into Nepal. The guy at the Consulate just gave me a black felt pen to cover the word then took the application form. It was okay for me but now I say to leave it out completely. You could even write that you're going the other way in China. They dont check up so no problem doing that.
yes China, has rules that are often enforced differently to how it is written e.g. even china cits government travel agencies run trips to tibet , but if you write places you will visit in tibet on your visa application then you won't get your visa, and the media in china will talk about tourism in tibet autonomous region including the number of foreigners going there , so who knows how they were meant to get their visas if they can not write the words on their visa application,...the anomaly is however if you write other cities in china and even if you presented an ongoing ticket on arrival to exit to nepal they will not worry about it.
