Hi,

I am in Chengdu at the moment and looking to go to Tibet any time possible really, if there are any groups out there needing an extra person I am flexible on time and route, etc... I gather it is tough to get a permit now with the holiday and after that it is two days to get, but I am really flexible.

Cheers

Mike

Sims might have a group going. Worth asking. Or maybe at Traffic Hotel, though not sure if they target the local market.

If you don't have your permit by now, you won't be able to get it until after the holiday. Earliest you will be able to get it now will be mid to late next week.

I don't think you will be able to get a permit until sometime into the week beginning the 11th of October, and with good organising to do that, as the permit deciders will be closed well into next week.

Traffic still book walk-ins. Its worth visiting them to see what they have going on. (Next to down town bus station - easy to find)

But as you now can't get a permit till the end of the Holidays you may as well be more flexible and look around for other options. Heading up to Xining would work well.....there are a bunch of companies running Tibet trips out of Xining who often have groups you can join. (and getting train tickets to Lhasa is much easier out of Xining than Chengdu)

Hi, I'm actually in Beijing but planning to go to Tibet from Xi'an around the 12th of october.
I'm not in a group yet! Would like to join somewhere and go to Tibet?

It will most likely be difficult to find a group to join in Xi'an. Chengdu and Xining are far more popular places to begin a trip to Tibet from.

it is definitely possbile for NO.5 to join a group even though she is in Xi'an, as long as she arrives in Lhasa and meets the group members on the same day with is ok. and NO.5, if you want to start the tour from the 12th, Oct, you 'd better take train ride into Lhasa, which spares your tour agent's permit delivery time, as the orginal permit is only required when you take flight into Lhasa.

#7...I didn't say it would be impossible to meet other travelers in Xi'an...just said that it would be difficult. As a travel agency, you should know that far more travelers begin their journey to Lhasa from Chengdu and Xining compared to Xi'an.

Thanks for this guys,

#1 at Sims at the moment and there doesn't seem to be much going on there with respect to groups, but will keep my ear closer to the ground, Will maybe check out traffic then two.

The guys here seem to think it just takes two days after the holidays to arrange the permit.

#5 what day are you aiming to arrive in Tibet on the 11th?

Will take a look into Xining, I guess there is a train there from Chengdu

Cheers

Mike
