Hi all,
I have received a few quotes for a 17 day tour ranging from $790 with no Accom up to $1800 including accommodation.
What would the average cost of a hostel/guest house/hotel cost along the way? Im assuming it isnt worth the extra 1000. Would I budget $30 a day or is this unrealistic.

Think we paid about 200Y for double rooms with all facilities in hotels.A long time ago now.
We paid something like 200Y (about $25) for 2 bedroom suites a few years ago, about 100Y for normal doubles. That price difference must include more than rooms.
sorry the quotes were from 2 different people (sorry for the confusion) both included guide, driver, landcruiser, permits.
The expensive one included accom and entrance fees, Porters for Trek and meals for the guide and driver.
I am assuming the extra stuff all adds up quickly, but wasnt sure if it would add up to extra $1000
Can't help on accommodation costs, but we paid entrance fees which were about $100 on a 10-day tour (two years ago). It might have gone up since then - entrance fees in China are notoriously expensive.
Meals for the guide and driver shouldn't cost much at all.
If you live in the hotel is a three-star hotel, if you go to tibet in June July or August , so the hotel expenses will be very expensive
It really depends on the type of accommodations the agency is offering. It seems a little high to me. I usually recommend just picking up a copy of Lonely Planet's Tibet guidebook and arranging rooms in towns a day or two before you arrive. Except for Lhasa, you normally do not need to make reservations far in advance. Expect to pay between 200 and 400 RMB per night for a 3 Star Hotel and 70 to 100 RMB per night for dorm/guesthouse beds.
