I am guessing that expenses (e.g. accommodation) when travelling around Taiwan over the Easter break and the week following will be no higher than normal? Anyone had experience of this? Looks like you just need to watch out for CNY?
Also, having done bit of research on an itinerary it seems like it is very difficult to travel from the east side of the island to west (or vice-versa) with pubic transport, thus making round trips quite difficult (unless you go right down to the south)…
It seems like the Taiwan guide books on the market are relatively outdated (2007 publishing date) for LP and RG. For a short trip (7 days) based in Taipei, which book is preferable? I will try to find both in the library for planning purposes, but I was thinking of buying one to take on the trip. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

Eva Air is offering a good price on a flight YYZ- Bali and back. Though ,on the return flight there is an overnight stopover in Taipei.
I'm not too keen on the idea of an overnight stopover in general (especially on the way back home), but the price of the flight is good.
Is Taipei an okay place to be stopped over for 24 hours?

I'm attending a wedding in Taipei with 3 other friends. We are traveling abroad beforehand and do not want to pack suits along with us for the journey. Are there any places in Taipei to rent tuxedos? Also, two of my companions are pretty tall - 6'4" - would that be an issue as well?

I am a French citizen, in Bangkok right now. I would like to know how to get a new 2-month Taiwan tourist visa. Must I get a letter of authorization from the French Embassy in Bangkok? Or can I just go to the Taiwan Embassy in Bangkok to receive my visa?
I'm looking for a nice, clean, safe place to stay in Tainan while taking a course at a university there (4 weeks). I need a private room with private bathroom at a reasonable price - hopefully a monthly rate. Any recommendations? Someone recommended the Guang Hua (Hwa) Hotel, but their website is only in Chinese... I can't find the room rate or any details about the rooms. Some websites rave about the Confucius Inn, but don't mention the room rates...
