We are considering a 2 week holiday in Taiwan this spring (2010). I've done some research and it looks like there is so much to see, but would appreciate some advice on what the weather is really like around May time. Does it rain a lot? How humid is it? We're going with a 13 month old daughter so wouldn't want to do too much sightseeing in the rain ;>.

Thanks!

It's a good choice to go to Taiwan in May. The weather is more comfortable. We have more rain in the North area in May. It's very convenient to travel in Taiwan, such as transportation and food. We have baeutiful beaches in the South and the East areas.I suggest you can spend few days to stay in Taiwan and Hualien.

May is the rainiest month in the year in north Taiwan. I'm sorry, but I can't find historical averages for the south. It's VERY humid. Have you been to Hong Kong before? It's like that. The average high in Taipei in May is 27 C (81 F). It will be hotter in the south, probably approaching 30 C (90 F or so) if you make it down towards Kaohsiung.
