Hi everyone,

Having stopover in February 10 for 4 days. Just curious what sort of budget I am looking at per day? Will probably stay at backpackers or 2/3 star hotels and eat at cheap places, etc. Trying to keep cost as low as possible.

Any suggestions on cheap hotels in good location?

Cheers

I stayed at The Feeling Hotel on several occasions. Away from the center of town, but near the metro. I believe it was about US$40/night for a single. Beyond that, really good eats, cabs, and clubs are all very reasonably priced in Taiwan. You could easily and comfortably get by on US$75 a day.

There are lots of hotels in Taipei, some ranging from 30 bucks a night up to 100+ a night. The feeling hotel is quite cheap I think they run around 35-45 a night. There are also several hostels.

As a tourist I would agree, you probably need about $75/day because you will probably want to take a taxi rather then try to figure out where you want to go. Though the subway system is clean, safe, friendly and, cheap and easy.

The absolute cheapest you could do in Taipei as a traveler in a hotel is US $60 or so a day - if you stayed in one of the few backpacker hostels or student hostels and visited things on the cheap, eating at small holes in the wall or street vendors (which are all delicious).

You'd be more comfortable, as mentioned above, on US$75 a day if you can swing it.

Less in the rest of the country.
