Hi all.

As I have been scheduled 4 rest days in May, I'm looking to take this opportunity to go Taiwan again. I've been to Taipei thrice, taichung once and hualien once.

Cause this trip wasn't plan until 2 days ago, I only have less than 1 week to decide on my itinerary. I'm a female and will be travelling alone. Any ideas where else I can visit for scenic areas? I don't mind doing a bit of hiking, biking or joining some local tour group. But I'd hope to stay in an area for at least 3 days (to slowly explore the area entirely) till i head back to taipei to catch the flight back. I'm also going on a tight budget as I'm back from a Tokyo trip last month.

Tried to google places with backpackers inn, but results only show Hualien and Taipei.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

When will you arrive?
Maybe you can try event travel or train travel.

I'm fond of hiking the central Taiwan mountains and snorkeling the coral reefs near islands off the eastern shore.

Tainan has a lot of history and some great historical sites.

Getting into the mountains can be a bit difficult if you're only here for a short time. Try Hiking Taiwan or More Hiking in Taiwan for day hike ideas around Taipei. But otherwise, try heading south. There are lots of good hostels in Kaohsiung and Tainan , and enough things to see for days and days.
