Dragon Boating Festival

I suspect the places in Taiwan where such an event can be held are dwindling. Water quality in rivers and channels is not suitable for this if not sewage clogged. I am almost sure you won't find a place in Taipei. Perhaps Danshui will be the only place where such an event is likely to be held as it is close to the outlet to sea where sewage effluent is more dilluted.

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't aware that it was this bad with river pollution in Taiwan. We will keep a lookout for this event hopefully we will be able to experience it!

CNY, Dragon Boat, Middle Autumn are the most important Festival in Taiwan.
Well..There are too many dragonboat contests on the Festival.
Almost all counties and cities will hold their own dragon boat contests.
There are qulaifying contest, semi-contest and 12th of June is the final contest.
Some foreigners even
The contest places of different citis and counties:
Taipei City : Dajia River Park
New Taipei City: Bitan ( Chines Only)

I-Lan City: I-Lan Bridge

There is a ceremoeny, including lighting the eyes of the dragon and lunching.
Kaohsiung City: 1. Kaohsiung Bridge
2. LinYuan (Evening Contest)
Changhua County: Lukung
....
The list above is only part of thest contest. You can organize your itinerary first and find the most convenient one.

By the way , there are some religional festivals around the Dragon Boat Festival.

I hear the one in LuGang, Changhua is a good one. They have races and festivals there on the 12th.

By the way, Taipei City Government provides the free trial experience of riding dragon boat on 6/1、6/2、6/8 from 9:30 to 17:00

It is good to spend one day in Luakng, where is the old town with lots of street food and temples.

The Gragon Boat Festival is going to be held on 6 June in Lukang.

you can go to Taipei and Tainan to see the dragon boat game.
but i think Taipei is the biggest one.

Taipei location : Dajia Riverside Park
transportation : MRT station is at Yuanshan. (get off here and ask people)
time : 6/8~6/9
