HI!

My wife and I are thinking of heading down South of Taiwan during the CNY break.
We would like to avoid the traffic and try and go somewhere natural and scenic (Perhaps somewhere in the Kenting National Park).

Any suggestions on what days to travel to avoid the bulk of the traffic?

Any suggestions on quiet out of the way places to visit?
We would like to do some relatively easy forest type walks.

Anything natual and quiet would be good.

We don't have our own transport so would be relying on public transport (although we might rent a car)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx

Traffic will be a mess during the Chinese New Year. I think the government put out traffic advisory for that period. But it is likely in Chinese. You will be smart to heed the advisory.

Taiwanese usually say: people mountain and people sea and that is the statement of CNY break. People down to the the South and East areas at that moment. If you want to take the bus or train at that break, you need to book the tickets early. Shan-Ping is a good choice for you. Not many people there, but you should bring your ID and apply the permission to go into this area. You can get the permission from the local police officer.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I know that travel during CNY can be a nightmare.
Some days are definitely a stay-at-home-if-at-all-possible day.
I believe the day after CNY is a bad day.

Are there any 'better' days to travel at that time?

Thanks
