Not for cost considerations, but for convenience sake only. I am flying MEX-TPE and I would have to go through all kinds of b.s. in LA with just 4 hour layover to replace my laptop Where I am in Chiapas, they are 10 years behind. So I thought I'd get a new laptop in TPE. But, can I get English keyboard, instruction manual, blah, blah, blah in TPE? Any tips on easiest place to buy would be welcomed. Gracias

You'll get no bargains in Taiwan. I just want to make sure you understand that.

I wondered around Kaifeng Sreet and Zhonghua Road which are near Taipei Main Station. A large number of small computer shops are there. If I had to buy a laptop in Taipei I'd go there. Please note that any warranties may ONLY be valid in Taiwan. So if it breaks or has problems after you leave, you may have to pay full price for any repairs. I think (heavy emphasis on that word) that all laptops will have an English language keyboard and possibly English and Chinese manuals. Do note that any pre-loaded laptop will come with a traditional Chinese version of Windows and that may cause issues when you try to run programs written in English or Spanish. After you get home you may need to wipe the disc and reinstall Windows, assuming you have a copy you can use for that purpose.

Thank you. First of all there is no ''home'', secondly I clearly stated that cost was not a consideration. To me a laptop is a disposable product. But thanks for the location tip, anyway.

I can't remember the exact addresses, but there are two small malls stuffed with electronics shops just south of Taipei Main Station. When I was there last year most of the shops did not have English language keyboard/software laptops in stock. Most said they could get them easily but I would have to wait 2-3 days. In the end, I bought an Asus netbook at the airport duty free, pretty much the same price and it had English language software pre-loaded.

This is for those who want to shop around. The best place to buy any Computer Product here in Taipei:
Guanghua Electronic Center . Lots of competition, good price all brands available-English versions too .

Frankly even with the NB loaded with the Traditional Chinese Windows it has never been a problem for me since all other programs I installed are in English,
