To make a long story short, I am back in Taipei from now Mon. Aug. 10 until Friday, Aug. 14. I had planned to go to Tainan City and possible Kaoushing but it looks like the aftermath of the typhoon has vetoed that idea. I have already seen the Taroko Gorge.

Any ideas of places in the north that are accessible and interesting to visit? Anyone interested in getting together?

Sincerely,
dancingwings

There are plenty of great places to visit around Taipei. The northeast coast area is very beautiful. I highly recommend visiting the historical mining village of Jinguashi. It is often overlooked in favor of the nearby teahouses in Jiufen.

Dear Wix99,

Thank you for your response. One of the staff at the hotel recommended that very place. It sounds interesting. I will probably go there tomorrow.

Much joy,

I really enjoyed my trip to the Juming Sculpture Museum close to Jinshan.

Also very close to there is the surreal Jin Bao Shan cemetery. The legendary pop star Teresa Teng is buried there.

Something different, at least!
