Enjoying the snacks bought from street stands and at night markets is one of the most enjoyable highlights of a trip to Taiwan, but you might want to dial back the tourist promotion efforts a bit. Would you really describe Taiwanese cuisine as "gourmet", and is it really that well-known around the world? And how exactly is Taiwan's geographic location "unique", especially in comparison to other island countries in East and Southeast Asia?

Can't live without? Hardly..Don't get me wrong. I love Taiwanese food, especially the street stall variety. But to be honest many items are not very healthy either fried in oil or heavily laden with sodium or both.
