Two friends are heading into Seoul for an evening this weekend because they have a short layover. They're both very strict vegetarians - they'll eat dairy and eggs, but fish products are off-limits. Does anyone know a decent restaurant in the Jongno/Insadong/Namdaemun/Myeongdong area where they can order without worry, but which still manages to be authentically Korean?

I can give them phrases for communicating with non-English-speaking staff that they really don't want meat, but it'll help…

For those thinking of working/living in South Korea I have set up a website of my audio reflections on life in South Korea and the teaching (hagwon) industry. These can be found at http://www.hagwonreflection.000a.biz/

I am also on the look out for audio contributions from those who have made the same journey and it would be great to get submissions off other people too. See the site for more details. All (constructive) feedback on my first recording is welcome.

Hi!
I am interested in teaching English in Korea, and am trying to find a reputable recruiter to work through.
I have looked through as many posts as possible to glean useful info, and have decided that I would much rather use a recruiter than attempt to find a job on my own. A few weeks ago, someone gave me the name of a recruiter who had an office in Los Angeles. I called them to make sure they were legit and the guy said "yeah, go ahead and apply online, blah blah. I was really excited and…

I'm going to Seoul tomorrow and am looking at hostels. Can anyone recommend a good neighborhood to stay in? My #1 interest is food and particularly street food. Any neighborhood recommendations would be appreciated, and if you know of a hostel in that neighborhood, even better!

Hi everyone!

This is my first post on this forum so forgive me if this is a stupid question.

I will be in Seoul in late january next year for a week. I am really keen to do a day trip to Panmunjom to see the DMZ. Just wondering how easy this is to organise? should i organise it before i leave? or can i just book it when im in seoul? also wondering roughly how much a day trip like this should cost (in won).

Thank You! :)

Justin

I came to Korea about 6 months ago on a tourist Visa and was mainly just burning through my own cash. (Canadian - 6 months)

I finally received a criminal record check but it didn't contain a check for vulnerable sector search. Is this unacceptable?

I have another criminal record check that I submitted directly to the RCMP which I suppose contains the check for the vulnerable sector but I submitted that about 2 months ago and haven't received any notice from them as to how it's proceeding.

Hi! I will be spending a month in Seoul in December. In my to-do list is to watch any of the weekly music programs such as Music Bank, Music Core or Inkigayo. I know most of the broadcasting companies are located in Yoeuido. My question is, is there any requirements before i could get into the studio or can i just walk in?

Hi everyone!
I'm planning to go to South Korea next year to teach English. I'm going to get there on a holiday visa and spend a few weeks looking for a job, then when I get one I'll head to Japan for a week to organise my working visa back into the country.

I'm just wondering how much I'll need to save to last me until I get my first pay from the job, which will probably come about a month into my contract. I plan on having about $5000AUD, and I have a credit card but of course would prefer not…
