Temple Stay

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a temple stay program in Korea? I live in Seoul but would be willing to travel, and am having a hard time picking a temple to go to since there seem to be so many offering the stay program... Any good experiences or suggestions??
Thanks!

Hi,
I will be flying from Honolulu to Singapore via Korean Air. On the way back home, I will have a 10-12hr layover.

My question is:
1) I never done this before, but if I have a long layover, can I just go through customs and leave the airport to check Seoul?
2) Is it even worth leaving the airport to go in and out of Seoul and get some good kimchee or chap chae??

Does anyone have any advice on the cheapest way.

At the moment direct is around £1200!!!

Stop over in Dubai is £630 but were then talking 24 hours of travel.

I was thinking is it cheap to get to China or Japan and then get a Air Asai flight to Seoul.

Any first hand advice would be appreciated. I want to go in mid July.

Thanks Andy

I will be spending about a month and a week in South Korea and I wanted to inform my banking company, Chase, that I will be using it there so that they won't flag my card as stolen or for fraudulent activity. To my surprise, I received a message stating that the government of South Korea has blocked Chase cards from withdrawing from any ATM! Is this true?! I went to South Korea as recently as December of 2009 and it worked perfectly fine (even though I got charged up the !#%# with fees)…

I need a place to stay on somewhat of a budget. I know Seoul can be expensive. Do I stay at a guesthouse or an apartment? What is the best value if I want a studio room with a private bathroom. The rest of the ammenities are not important as long as I can get around the city by public transportation. How much does something like this cost? Thank you. This is my first time to Korea.

Heylo~

I am going to Korea this summer for 8-9 weeks between June and August and was wondering if anyone could help with Goshiwons in Dongdaemun. I'll be at Kyunghee for the 9 weeks and was hoping to find a cheap accomodation. I've read numerous sites on naver that claim 200-250,000won a month, and I was hoping someone could give me some more information or so?

Also, what does daily food allowance look like? is $30 a day reasonable, or too low?

And, to get from Incheon Airport to Hoegi…

My friend and I are looking for hotel/motel/guesthouse for one night in Gyeongju during early July. I've tried Sa Rang Chae Guesthouse, but they're fully booked. I don't have the budget for better hotels and the other hotels don't have very good reviews, so we were thinking about trying the motels near the bus station. Has anyone tried any recently? The term 'love motel' is putting me off. Are they clean and airconditioned?

Our budget is no more that 70000W per night.

Hello,

Been touring S.Korea for a month now by bicycle, still have another month left. I have been trying, unsuccesfully, to find a place where they make tofu the traditional way...very easy to find in Japan, but i just can't seem to get reliable information about it in Korea.

Anyone with any information on this ? ideally, south of the peninsula, or on the east coast, as they are the next areas i'll be touring.

Any info appreciated,

SimonB travels
