As I may be going to South Korea soon, I would like to know the latest situation regarding withdrawing money from ATMs with a foreign card linked up to the VISA system. I seem to recall that such machines used to be far and few between, but this may have changed. Also, has anyone ever seen ATMs in South Korea displaying the Union Pay logo (a Chinese company similar to VISA and Mastercard)?.However, knowing about VISA withdrawals is my priority.
Hi everyone,
I'm going to Seoul for 2 days (from Japan, where I live) and just saw that most, if not all, stores and department stores are closed on Mondays? Is that true? I'm going to shop mostly (in Myeongdong) and since I'm going from Sunday afternoon to Tuesday noon...this is kind of alarming to me. Is this really the case? Thanks.
Traveling with the family with a toddler in tow. We plan to have a day trip to Panmunjon. Any thoughts on bringing toddlers and kids at the DMZ?
Tipas and thoughts are appreciated.
Hello! First post. :)
Anyway, I'm arriving at Incheon Airport from Tokyo at 11:30 pm. I bought the ticket because it was cheap and now it has hit me that almost all the buses close down at this time.
Am I correct that there are at least some infrequent night buses?
About how much would a regular taxi cost from the airport to Dondaemun in won?
Hi everyone!
My friend and I are going to South Korea on October, just in time for the Jinju Lantern Festival. But first, we'll be staying in Seoul to tour some sights. We're having trouble finding out how to travel to Jinju from Seoul, since we'd like to arrive their the fastest possible way to enjoy the festival longer -- any suggestions? I read in some forums that the bus and train trips take almost the same time, so our problem is where to catch a bus from Seoul to Jinju.
We're planning to…

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to decide whether to visit Hahoe or Yangdong while I'm in South Korea this November. I'll be traveling from the Samcheok area to Gyeongju. So, I could go via Andong and spend some time at the Hahoe Folk Village, which would mean I probably have to stay overnight in Andong before moving on to Gyeongju.
Or, I could go straight to Gyeongju and then take the bus up for a few hours at Yangdong before returning to see the rest of the sights in Gyeongju the following day or two…
Hi everyone,
I need your guidance on this. I'm a bit confuse whether to take West Front Line DMZ tour (Panmunjeom, 3rd Tunnel, etc) or fence tour at Central Front Line (Yeolsoe Observatory). Anyone going for fence tour before? any thoughts?
I heard that central area more into laid back in terms of nature. Will it be worth visiting there?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks
I fly into Inchon at 6am, fly out the same day at 6pm. Seoul is 70km away. Should I go there? I'd like to hang out in a cool place, have a decent lunch, maybe get a massage, soak up some Korean ambiance. What should I do? Yes it's a great airport, but don't want to sit there all day.
Hi All,
