I'll be in Korea with my gf for 10 days in dec/jan and don't want to lose a bunch of cash staying in hotels in Seoul, anyone know good places to camp in the winter? preferably away from people but still have access to water or a bus connection. I have the equipment already.

Umm... You do realise it's often -20c, with snow, in & around Seoul? Ski camps maybe. A motel / gh in Seoul can be as little as $23.
But is a $23 room really better than camping? Maybe camping at sea level near the water would be best, since I imagine it would be cold up in the mountains.

If you consider $23 too expensive and you don't want to lose a few digits to frostbite you could consider a jjimjilbang for $10. It's like camping but indoors and you would be sharing a communal sleeping floor with about 50 other people. They also have baths, saunas and free use of pyjamas covered in the $10. Some also have an internet cafe section, too.

It's cold up in the mountains, and it's cold at the bottom of the mountains, and it's cold in the cities, and near the coast, and on the beach. Korea is just frigid everywhere for about five months. Really....camping would not be a clever, or pleasant idea in winter. -20 is not an exaggeration.
