it would be hard for you to ride bike there.better taking a bus.
need to be prepared for seasickness. sometimes it's hard to deal with.
hiking a mountain for 1 day,
sailing to dok-do(if you're interested in, eventhough I'm Korean, I haven't been there) 1 day
rounding island 1 or 2 days.
fishing. watersports would be possible.
spending 4 days will be enough.

I do recommend visit there.
it's worth going there, with Jeju island.

you can take a ferry to ulleung in Pohang and sokcho, mook-ho.
mook ho or sokcho will be easier to get from Seoul
visit

ya thanks, I was thinking more like 2-3 days and also I've been to several islands already including Jeju, and the ferry looks like a long ride indeed.......is it really worth it is all I can say? I guess I'll only know if I go

Is it worth wasting three days of your life to visit a spectacular island with volcanic sediments and awesome views, knowing full well that only a few people ever will see such astonishing beauty? You betcha! I had only two hours and regret that I could not spend any more time on this rock in the middle of nowhere. Uleong-do is breathtakingly beautiful! On your way, spend the night at Manstar Motel in Pohang: the owner is real friendly and speaks English.

I spent 4 days on Ulleungdo last August, & loved it. The hydrofoil from Donghae Mukho was around 55k business class, and a smooth ride. No seasickness. You need to ring & book in advance for a seat reservation. I almost didn't get a seat. Lots of package tour Koreans to compete with. Forget bikes. The road is too narrow. The busses between Dodong & Jeonbu are regular & cheap. Don't miss the entire coastal walk from Dodong to Jeodong. About 3 km. I caught the bus back, from Jeodong to Dodong. And the cable car to the summit lookout behind Dodong.

Here's some pics I took:

I also have more pics on Trekearth, but that site's down at the moment.

OK thanks for everyone's input, much appreciated, but how long are we talking on the ferry from Pohang?

2-3 hours on the fast catamarans. I'm sure that there are slower, cheaper, overnight boats, taking much longer, but why would you bother with them? Ulleungdo is over 100 miles off the coast. It actually takes longer from Pohang than Mukho. And costs more. And is further away, than the 160 km at Mukho. See map:
