Hi,

I currently live in South Korea (Gyeongsangnam-do) and have done some decent hiking here (e.g., Jirisan, Hallasan, Gayasan) but am looking to do a five-day backpacking trip with a friend this summer. I haven't made it to Seoraksan yet but plan to in the fall. Anywhere in the country is okay.

We plan to camp (not use shelters)... And preferably NOT in some over-crowded "campgrounds."

Does anybody know of any good places to do this? We're interested in the northern lakes region as well, but open to anywhere. It's been difficult to find out much helpful info on this on the internet.

Also, does anybody know anything about renting canoes on any lakes anywhere?

Thanks so much everyone.

Oh, and also...

I know this might be a bit tough, but we're reallllly keen to find some more secluded, off the beaten path areas to hike. Somewhere without museums or cable cars at the top... Thanks ^^

Deokpung Valley (덕풍계곡)

It's not well known area yet. It's in southern part of Gangwondo.

Valley is beautiful, and many falls and fonds.
