Hi,

I plan to go to Korea in the new year to teach for a year and was wondering whether i could get any help on good recruiters. just from browsing the internet i've come across www.flying-cows.com and http://www.koreanteachingadventure.com/ who both seem quite trustworthy but i was would quite like to hear from ppl with 1st hand experience. any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks alot!

I've never heard of either of those 2, but that could be a good thing. It's usually the bad recruiters that draw attention. Join Daves ESL main branch, & also join the separate Korean Job Forums. My recruiter 'ESL Planet' were good to me.

You'll need:

Original BA / BS (Any discipline)
Sealed transcripts
Police Check
Medical Check (Aids, TB, Hepatitis free)
2 recommendations / references from former employers / colleagues.

And other stuff for your E2 work visa. Try searching GEPIK or EPIK websites for more info.

I used this company.

Everything worked out in the end.

They did manage to lose my original documents and I had to contact my university to get them replaced. Twice. Of course they found them again, but not until after I had new ones made. I have 3 originals now. I guess I was the lucky one, no one else seemed to have had the troubles I experienced.

Next time I would use a different company.

Get 4-5 certified / authenticated copies of all documents. For your school, Gepik eg, your Recruiter, Immigration, & a spare copy for yourself, if you want to move to a new province next year.

Skip Dave's ESL in favour of tefl.com - a far more professional site that vets their advertisers. Dave's is good for forums. I taught in Korea thru Tenet. Didn't really have any probs out of the ordinary. Paid the best salary in the country.
