Hi All

Please help

I am looking to go to South Korea soon to work as a Teacher. I understand that many of the jobs are based in Seoul. From my research im not sure that i would want to work and like so close to the rat race. It does obviously have its benefits.

Im in search of somewhere that is still busy (ish) as i would want to live where there is a expat community, as my contract will be for a year, so i can imagine it to be very lonely if i was located where no one speaks english at all. I will of course learn the local language ( i have my phrase book ready) ii kind of want a mix of both, I do not want to be too isolated. I would want to be able to get to the buzzing areas within a reasonable amount of time.

*Could someone please give me a breakdown on the popular areas which covers all of my criteria

*Also companies to chose when picking a job- so reputable agents

Thankyou in advance :-)

Any decent sized city (say, with 250,000 people or more living there), will have other foreigners to talk to and probably some kind of expat social scene, too. Sometimes, schools will be advertised as being "in" these cities, when in fact they are out in the sticks somewhere nearby, in other words a bus ride away from a social life. Carefully research exactly where your school and your provided accommodation is located, relative to the city center.

I have lived in Changwon for 2 years, which definitely meets your criteria. Off the top of my head, other cities that will meet your needs (apart from Busan and Seoul) include Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju, Ulsan .... and probably many more.

Agents are agents - they just want to get you in a job and get their commission. Don't take their word for anything. Check carefully with current and former foreign teachers at the school you are interested in, before you sign a contract.

Cheers for that.

I know what you mean about the agents. Which agents have you used? Which agents have you heard good reviews about?

Thanks

Several things wrong with your posting: Punctuation, capitalization, run-on sentences, articles, and spelling.

Please, for the love of god, don't come here to teach English.

^ The word "God" starts with a capital letter. I hope you're not an English teacher! ;-)

It only starts with a capital if you are refering to the deity himself (or should I say "Himself" to appease you?). If you are merely referring to the idea of a higher being, "god" is perfectly fine.

Look, I'm not trying to pick a fight, I just get so annoyed with people who want to be English teachers yet can't take the time to construct a decent message.

^ Also, "god" is what a non-believer would use.
