Hi: I will be visiting Seoul from September 24th until September 30th.

I am staying in the Insadong area.

I am in my late 60's, love to walk (preferably very little uphill), not into museums (seen too many). I plan on visiting Bukchon Hanok Village, Jogyesa, Jongmyo, War Memorial plus shopping in the market areas.

Plan on visiting markets between 10am to 4pm to avoid crowds.

I plan on walking around Seoul, maybe taking the subway when needed.

I would like to get out of Seoul for a half day or full day.

Ideally I would like to go to a place with fairly simple directions by public transport. I am into nice serene surroundings (mountains or water) where I can walk, sit, take pictures, relax, browse craft shops, stop for a coffee or tea then continue on.

I have been reluctant to post but there is so much information on here that I am getting overwhelmed with information. I currently have three books on Seoul that I am reading but find that most of the info is based for younger more fit people! For instance Namsan mountain or Bukhansan, when they say a path is easy, do they mean easy for a 30 year old or a 70 year old!?

I guess I am looking for the gentler side of a big city.

Thank you to everyone.

There are a lot of stairs up to the top of Namsan and long paths round the mountain so it's not too bad. There is also a cable car, so you could go up that way. The metro system in Seoul is very good and easy to navigate, with signs in English and helpful staff. You might also like to visit at least one of the palaces in Seoul and walk along the stream in the middle of the city. There are plenty of tea and coffee shops around seoul.
