I've been reading about the new s-train route in the south of Korea and want to take this method of transport. However, when I try to find the routes on the Korail website I only come up with KTX connecting routes via Osang or an error.

Does anyone have experience with the route, have tips on how to buy tickets, nice stopovers along the way etc.?

S-Train is well described on Korean version of KORAIL website (http://www.korail.com/2009/htm/htm54000/w_htm54210.jsp</a>), but it hasn't been translated into English.
If you use the English booking page, type in respective terminus of S-train, that is Busan - Yeosu-Expo and v.v., or Gwangju - Masan and v.v. and hit Inquiry.
You'll see a 'Saemaeul' train, # 487x, in the results that doesn't have Economy class. That's the S-train you're looking for. In the Korean version of bookings, the same train is clearly marked as an 'S-train' yet the English booking algorithm hasn't been updated, so it displays 'Saemaeul' instead.
